UCCC at Catholic Underground Bay Area

Saturday, January 26, 2013 was a great day for us in California. People from all parts of the state (and nation!) came to San Francisco to walk for Life!

Catholic-Underground-JanuaryLater that day, many of the Walkers crossed the bay for Catholic Underground Bay Area! At St.  Mary Magdalen in north Berkeley, the church was packed as we gathered for Adoration & Prayer, and then we went UNDERGROUND to the parish hall below the church (hence the title “Catholic Underground”) for the Social & Concert.

Fr. Stan Fortuna, C.F.R. – one of the eight original Franciscan Friars of the Renewal – is amazing. He has studied jazz performance with the greats, and now preaches through song and rap. One particularly powerful composition titled “Never Been Born” was in an aborted baby’s perspective; it hit the right notes for the audience that came directly from Walk for Life.

New friends were made that night at Catholic Underground Bay Area. UCCC connected with UC Davis and members of the UC Merced Newman Club, as well as students from universities in the Bay Area. Thank you all for dropping by our table at Catholic Underground and introducing yourselves!

When a bunch of young Catholics gather together, there are always new connections to be discovered – perhaps mutual friends, or common interests. This is why UCCC 2013 is so exciting. UNITY! See you all soon!
